Our Dental practice is a very friendly family orientated practice. We are a general practice offering all various treatments including root canal treatments, crown and bridgework, whitening and gum treatment. For those who are very nervous we endeavor to take extra care to ensure a non traumatic experience.
Nuala Cagney our Principal Dentist qualified as a Dental Surgeon in 1993. She obtained a Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry following a 2 year course in Trinity College, Dublin in 2010. In 2014 Nuala was awarded an inaugural Certificate in primary Dental Care by the Irish Faculty of Primary Care Dentistry.This has increased Nuala’s Clinical skills enabling her to perform more specialized treatments in a General dental practice setting.
Dental Health maintenance is of special importance to us, with this in view we have introduced a Dental Maintenance Plan providing people with an easy pay option for Dental maintenance and reduced rates for all dental treatment.

DR NUALA CAGNEY
Dr Nuala Cagney is a local Dentist who has been serving the needs of the people of Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Limerick and further afield since 1993.
A native of Co Limerick, she is the principal Dentist at Nuala Cagney Dental Practice.
Having graduated from NUI in 1993 with an Honors Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in Dentistry, she took up a coveted position in the UK with John F. Lynch, where she gained immeasurable amount of experience and skill working in a busy progressive practice.
She returned to Ireland in 1995 and worked with the Health Service Executive in Limerick as a dental surgeon.
Nuala is also a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she was awarded a Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in 2010. In 2014 Nuala was awarded an inaugural Certificate in primary Dental Care by the Irish Faculty of Primary Care Dentistry.
Nuala’s ongoing vision for the practice is to provide the highest standards in modern dentistry found anywhere in Ireland today. Using the most advanced treatments coupled with a highly qualified, experienced team caring for the whole person is the cornerstone on which Nuala basis her professional and personal reputation. Keeping in line with the practice’s mission statement and as lead practitioner Nuala says she is committed to delivering a high level of care to all her patients in a whole person approach.
As part of the whole person care approach Nuala says that many people put off looking after their teeth because of fear. Here at Nuala Cagney Dental Practice we have many years experience working with nervous patients who soon come to realise that they are in capable and caring hands.

Nuala says the old saying “prevention is better than cure” is definitely true when it comes to dental care.
In her spare time, when she is not looking after her husband Joe and their five children, Nuala loves nothing more than playing her music. She has enjoyed man y successes over the years playing at both local and national levels. However she is adamant when she says her proudest moment of all was when she and her family received the Gradham Cheoil Award from Comhaltas Cheoiltoiri Eireann for the contribution to the development of Irish Traditional Music in Co Limerick.
DR LOUISE DONOVAN
Dr Louise Donovan graduated with an honours degree from University College Cork in June 2014. Since graduating, Louise has worked as a General Dental Practitioner in Ireland. She places special emphasis on ensuring the comfort of her patients is prioritised and ensures that the patient’s best interest is always placed first. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, continually attending courses to keep updated with the latest techniques and keeping her knowledge up to date through continued education
As an under graduate she gained the title Distinctive Academic title of College Scholar. She was selected by Cork Dental Hospital to submit her Literature review titled “Viruses of the oral cavity : An updated review (2014)” for the Leo Heslin Memorial prize
Louise attended a hands-on Oral Surgery day course in November 2014 with Dr Naomi Rahman and Dr Seamus Rogers in Dublin gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in Oral Surgery.
In April 2016 Louise attended a full day hands on course on Anterior Composites by the prestigious Dr Paddy Crotty. In September 2016 Louise attended Trinity College Dublin, with a view to obtaining a diploma in Clinical Dentistry
This is in line with Louise and Nuala Cagney Dental Practice’s ongoing vision to provide the highest standards in modern dentistry found anywhere in Ireland today through continuing professional development.
Louise has a keen interest in Sports and is often found to be hiking, swimming or surfing at the weekends. She firmly believes in the motto “A Healthy body leads to a healthy mind”.
An enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated professional, Louise is keen to work as part of a team. She enjoys the rewards and challenges of interacting with and treating members of the public.
DR PATRICK PENNY
DR PATRICK PENNY
Dr Patrick Penny our visiting orthodontist is registered on the Irish Dental Council Specialist register. He qualified as a Dentist from Cork and went on to be awarded a Masters in orthodontics in 2006 from Goteborg University, Sweden.
Dr Penny treats patients of all ages.
His aim is to help patients achieve and maintain beautiful smiles and to improve the comfort of their bite through high quality orthodontic services. Dr Penny strives to make your orthodontic experience in our practice a pleasant one and provides outstanding orthodontic treatment in a timely caring and friendly manner.
Margaret our Senior Dental Nurse, began working at the practice in 2001 and Qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2003 giving her 14 years experience. During a career break in 2008, Margaret travelled to Australia where she gained experience working in numerous dental practices which involved Endodontics, Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants. She has experience of working as a sterilisation officer and Dental Assistant to a Periodontist.
Margaret is a major part of our team. She is a great organiser and is in charge of all radiological and sterilisation and health and safety surveys we carry out on a regular basis.
She always has a smile on her face, and goes out of her way to ensure everyone is comfortable and looked after in the best possible way. Margaret boosts the atmosphere and is a major contributor to the well being of our team.
Emma originally from County Cork completed her Dental Nurse training in London in January 2014, with two years previous experience. During her time in London she also completed an implants course for Nurses at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She worked with a wide variety of treatments including Orthodontics, Implants, Cosmetic and Restorative.
She had a keen interest in sterilisation procedures and was the sterilisation officer in her previous workplace.
Emma moved back to Ireland in August 2014 and has been a valued member of our team since then, with her welcoming smile and friendly manner.
Ciara Jennings RDN
Ciara originally from Northern Ireland completed her Dental Nursing training in Belfast in 2005. Ciara joined us in January of this year and is experienced in all aspects of Dental Nursing including Complex Implant Cases. Ciara is very friendly and makes each patient feel very comfortable and reassured. She has an excellent manner with all of our patients and thrives in a busy clinic environment. Ciara regularly attends training courses and seminars to keep up to date with new dental techniques.
